Two weeks ago, the offers started coming in. Duke. Vanderbilt. Wake Forest. Places far beyond what my parents could never wait for me, much less pay. There are real offers, as I'm not a football player. That's great, I'm not a real college student, either. Mom and Dad stopped worrying about paying tuition, or even reach, about 20 years.
